My friend recently asked me to vlog or blog about what is was like growing up in the UK so I will try my best to add that into what I really like writing about – which at the moment is about gaming and bullying. This is because bullying stops a lot of children and adults having fun and really annoys me a great deal!
When I was growing up in England in the UK my favourite game was of course “netball”! If you are a very active person this is a great game to play as you need a lot of energy and enthusiam to play it! As a child of my daughter’s age I love, love, loved this game so much and our primary school team was ace! Angela, Dawn, Emma I remember them all well. All my friends I remember them well. Later on I taught at a school with Ange too – how neat is that – she was a PE teacher and I was a science teacher at Regent’s Park Community College in Southampton! Great school and lots of fun there we did a Gladiators tournament one time at lunch time!
So the bullying! Yeah this part was hard. I loved this game so much but when we moved up to High School I was not allowed to join in the netball team due to bullies telling me I was not allowed to play with them! This was hard so I thought to myself nevermind play a different game! And I then totally rocked it out in the Orchestra which was on at the same time at netball and made music my game instead. So yeah bullies I didn’t care that you didn’t let me play!
I did face bullying in Orchestra one time too – I was quite upset by this and back then I didn’t know how to stand up to bullies as I didn’t understand then why people were not all nice and what to do about it. So one of my best friends had to help out there and stood up to them for me. I did not ask them to do that, they just did and I have never, ever forgotten that act of kindness and love I will tell you that now. BECAUSE I didn’t ask for help, I am just not like that, however my friend saw this bully hurting me and just stepped up of their own accord and stood in front of me to say don’t do that to my friend again. And hey presto they did not ever bully me again.
